It’s funny … this thing called life.

It’s funny … this thing called life. I’ve had the past few weeks off of work; and while I’ve been busy checking things off my “to do” list that sometimes get forgotten or ignored, I’ve also had some time to reflect and observe. And it’s brought some interesting (and probably random) things to mind.

Over the course of the day, we can observe so many interesting scenarios. Life moments. A mom at the bank, trying to deal with her bickering middle school age children. The sweet couple walking down my street with their tiny baby in a carriage … it’s all so new and exciting, but they’re perhaps a little shell-shocked (or maybe just sleep deprived). Being out to dinner and seeing the crazy toddler run by with one of the parents in hot pursuit.

Having Vision – an Interview with Christopher Sean

I recently had the pleasure of working with Christopher Sean, who has just joined the cast of THE BAY. I know Christopher from Days of Our Lives, but getting to spend an entire weekend on set with him, I was reminded of what an inspiration he is. As he talked about his goals and his belief in the law of attraction, I was struck by his whole approach to life. I kept thinking I’ve got to remember this – both for myself and for my kids! But then I thought, what better way to remember it than to feature it here! Plus, his message is so great that I just had to share with all of you.

A Whirlwind Weekend and the Greatest Gift

As I laid down in my bed Sunday night, tired from a whirlwind week, a busy month and a tremendous year, my mind raced with excitement and memories. The days leading up to this weekend were long, but really, for me it’s been a 30-year road. A happy, fulfilling road that I never planned or expected, but one for which I am eternally grateful.

Later this month I’ll celebrate 30 years on Days of Our Lives. I remember the audition well, and remember thinking at the time that the three-year contract they were offering seemed like a lifetime. Now, looking back on the years since then, I think this 30-year gift of daytime is the best career I could have asked for.

Letting Go with Arms Wide Open

This past weekend was a bit of a milestone for our family, as my oldest son got married. He and his wife threw a wedding in Mexico; and while I was excited to celebrate with them, as a mother AND a party thrower, it was a little hard to stay out of it. It was hard to not worry what kind of party it would be, or wonder if their planning covered all the bases. I had to remind myself … this was their event. Even when he asked who else he should invite beside family, I said it was completely up to them.  And boy, they outdid themselves! It was so beautiful, with every detail thought out. It was such an incredible, moving weekend — a weekend none of us will ever forget!

Raising the Barre & Chasing Your Dreams

blog61_2I love Cardio Barre, and I love stories of people making their dreams come true … so this is a perfect story! My friend and cast mate, Eric Martsolf, recently moved with his wife, Lisa, and family to Las Vegas to open their very own Cardio Barre studio. I am so excited for them, and since I haven’t made it there to see it for myself (I am planning a visit), I asked them to share their story here. These two are just adorable … and more importantly I love how they are supporting each other as they take the leap on this new adventures.

Cheers to new adventures! (and if you’re in or near Las Vegas, go visit their new Cardio Barre!)

What Happened to the Crayons?

Where to begin on the topic of the internet and social media? I remember it showed up in my world when my kids were in middle school with AIM. All the parents were up in arms that it would ruin their spelling and grammar … everyone wondering where we were heading. Boy has the world changed since my kids were that age!

When my kids started interacting through the internet, I was so heartsick to witness hurt feelings when they would see photos of friends at parties to which they weren’t invited, or a boyfriend/girlfriend would break up over the computer. I talked with them, at length, about having the respect and dignity to talk to people in person, face to face.
