Don’t Panic: The Amazing Aftermath of Tackling Your Fears

So here I am in my 50s, and I’ve never gotten over my fear of public speaking. Couple that with the fact that, despite my career choice, I’ve never been a spotlight seeker and you’ll begin to see why the thought of this past week has been a source of terror for me for the last few months.

As some of you probably know, I was honored by CASA of Los Angeles this week at their annual gala. It was a fantastic event – thanks to many of you for your support of me and your contributions to this incredible organization – but the road to the gala was not an easy one for me, and I thought I’d share a little of the journey with you.

Happy Second Anniversary, PLANK!

In a couple days, we’ll mark the second anniversary of the launch of PLANK. If you would have asked me two years ago if we’d be able to publish a blog every week for two years, I’m pretty sure my answer would have been no.

But with your feedback and engagement, we’ve covered everything from acting and fitness, to skin care and closet maintenance. We’ve cooked, decorated, gardened and volunteered. We’ve laughed, cried, motivated and inspired each other. We’ve shared stories, ideas and pieces of our lives. 1699 comments, 105 weeks, 48 recipes, 30 videos and 21 guest blogs … and we’re still going strong!

It’s 2017: What Would You Like to See on PLANK?

Wow, it’s 2017 and we’re moving into the third year of PLANK … I can’t believe it! I’ve had so much fun here – sharing with, and learning from and about all of you! And most of all, I love the positive, supportive and inspiring platform that we’ve created together!

As we move into this new year, I want to hear more from you! What do you want to read about? Who would you like to see as a guest blogger? Which recipes would you like me to feature? Please comment here and let me know about any ideas you have for topics, or any questions that I can answer for you.

Thank you – I am grateful for your continued support and readership, and appreciate the time you take to engage with me here!

A Journey through Skincare

Recently, several people have commented about my skin, and asked about my skincare routine. While I have been lucky to have not had major skin issues, I do, like most women (and men), suffer from the occasional breakout. Add to that dry skin, and the issues that come with aging (I mean who would have thought I’d still be dealing with pimples when wrinkles started to appear?) and it’s become more and more important to me to take good care of my skin.

I’ve always been a firm believer in clean skin; and over the years, I’ve tried all kinds of cleansers and moisturizers – everything from drug store soap to expensive creams. Electric brushes and magic serums … I’ve tried those too. But I’ve only recently found a skincare regime that I think is really right for my skin. And the truth is, I didn’t find it on my own … I had the help of an excellent esthetician!
