On the Farm – Touring with Missy & Scott Reeves

I first met this beautiful gal in in 1986, when I joined the cast of Days of Our Lives, and she was (and still is) the doll baby of the universe. She was only 18, but had already been on the show for a year.

About 10 years ago, Missy and her adorable husband, Scott, decided to leave the rat race of Southern California and head to Nashville, Tenn.  Scott, who had been doing soaps for quite a while, is also an amazing singer/song writer … who had evidently always wanted to be a farmer. Nashville was a great fit.

The Power of Family

When I first met my best friend, Carrie, in our very early teens, I was struck by so many things. For starters, she wore make-up, always accessorized her outfits (which she designed and made herself) perfectly and she wore nail polish … all things that, as an eclectic beach girl, I did not do.

Carrie’s Mom with all of our kids.

When I met her family, I was in love. Her mom was so poised, beautiful and warm, and she welcomed me with open arms. I instantly became one of the daughters (she had two more and a son). I adored her and she truly was family … my kids even called her grandma. Sadly, Carrie’s mom passed away a few years ago, but she left an amazing legacy of family and inclusiveness.

Carrie has an extensive family, from which love overflows! And the support that they give each other is so genuine and infectious. I am grateful not only to call Carrie my friend, but also to consider her family my family … they completely changed who I became in my life. And today, we are closer than ever, so … 42 years to infinity.

Parenting & Grandparenting: A Conversation with Stephen Nichols

Stephen Nichols and I have known each other for more than 30 years, and I’ve always known that he’s an amazing father; but watching him become an amazing grandpa has been so much fun. Before our Summer break, I asked him to sit down with me to discuss parenting and grandparenting. Hope you enjoy our chat!

Having Vision – an Interview with Christopher Sean

I recently had the pleasure of working with Christopher Sean, who has just joined the cast of THE BAY. I know Christopher from Days of Our Lives, but getting to spend an entire weekend on set with him, I was reminded of what an inspiration he is. As he talked about his goals and his belief in the law of attraction, I was struck by his whole approach to life. I kept thinking I’ve got to remember this – both for myself and for my kids! But then I thought, what better way to remember it than to feature it here! Plus, his message is so great that I just had to share with all of you.

A Whirlwind Weekend and the Greatest Gift

As I laid down in my bed Sunday night, tired from a whirlwind week, a busy month and a tremendous year, my mind raced with excitement and memories. The days leading up to this weekend were long, but really, for me it’s been a 30-year road. A happy, fulfilling road that I never planned or expected, but one for which I am eternally grateful.

Later this month I’ll celebrate 30 years on Days of Our Lives. I remember the audition well, and remember thinking at the time that the three-year contract they were offering seemed like a lifetime. Now, looking back on the years since then, I think this 30-year gift of daytime is the best career I could have asked for.
