Bread pudding
Ingredients
- 4 cups bread pieces (tear any kind of bread into crouton size pieces)
- 1 large Granny Smith apple (cubed with skin on)
- 1 cup cranberries (frozen)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Scant nutmeg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 6 large eggs
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a saute pan, add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg to fruit and cook on medium heat until sugar is dissolved and cranberries begin to pop.
- Remove fruit from heat and let cool.
- While fruit is cooling, whisk together eggs and cream (if you are not using fruit, add sugar to this mixture; you can also use chocolate chunks instead of fruit)
- Add a pinch of salt
- In a large bowl, add bread and fruit, then dump the combined liquid/custard over the bread
- In a buttered pan, bake on 350 for 30 minutes (use a knife to check, knife should slide out clean)
- *Optional: late in the cooking, you can sprinkle the top with sugar and cinnamon.

I am a southern , cajun, country cook. I have done a good bit of bread pudding in my time. The fruit is a different twist and I am going to try this one out. Thanks for the recipe .
