Parenting & Grandparenting: A Conversation with Stephen Nichols

Stephen Nichols and I have known each other for more than 30 years, and I’ve always known that he’s an amazing father; but watching him become an amazing grandpa has been so much fun. Before our Summer break, I asked him to sit down with me to discuss parenting and grandparenting. Hope you enjoy our chat!

Having Vision – an Interview with Christopher Sean

I recently had the pleasure of working with Christopher Sean, who has just joined the cast of THE BAY. I know Christopher from Days of Our Lives, but getting to spend an entire weekend on set with him, I was reminded of what an inspiration he is. As he talked about his goals and his belief in the law of attraction, I was struck by his whole approach to life. I kept thinking I’ve got to remember this – both for myself and for my kids! But then I thought, what better way to remember it than to feature it here! Plus, his message is so great that I just had to share with all of you.

Stepping into Opportunity

If you’ve been reading PLANK for any amount of time, you probably know how much I’m a fan of saying YES to the opportunities life sends your way. Last week I was introduced to some really groovy shoes, and instead of just adding them to my favorite picks, I thought I’d dig a little deeper and find out what inspired these fun kicks. And what I found was one of the best examples of saying YES and figuring it out later, so I had to share!!

Raising the Barre & Chasing Your Dreams

blog61_2I love Cardio Barre, and I love stories of people making their dreams come true … so this is a perfect story! My friend and cast mate, Eric Martsolf, recently moved with his wife, Lisa, and family to Las Vegas to open their very own Cardio Barre studio. I am so excited for them, and since I haven’t made it there to see it for myself (I am planning a visit), I asked them to share their story here. These two are just adorable … and more importantly I love how they are supporting each other as they take the leap on this new adventures.

Cheers to new adventures! (and if you’re in or near Las Vegas, go visit their new Cardio Barre!)

The Unexpected Role Model

Recently, I was talking with Mandy, my PLANK editor, about our experiences as advocates with CASA of Los Angeles. She recounted a recent experience and I was so moved by the story that I asked her to share it with you.

THE UNEXPECTED ROLE MODEL  by Mandy Denaux

I remember when I was 8 years old I had a teacher named Mrs. Pickens. She was pretty and smart … and I wanted to be just like her. In the (many) years since then, my role models have come in many forms – teachers, bosses, friends … even an actress or two. Each of them serving to inspire and motivate me … or perhaps demonstrating a trait or position to which I aspired. Typical stuff from the people you’d expect. But, a few weeks ago, I found a role model in the unlikeliest of places.
