Taking Care of Beauty: Microneedling with PRP

Last week I shared my recommitment to myself, including health, fitness and beauty. And, I told you I was going to try something new at my husband’s medspa. This week’s video blog takes you inside the spa treatment room with me, and gives you an up close and personal look at my microneedling with PRP procedure.

As I’ve shared, I’m not typically too obsessed with appearance, but I do think it’s important to take care of yourself. A basic facial is more my norm, but I wanted to try a little something different … and I wanted to share the experience with you.

In the few weeks since my treatment I’ve been very pleased with the outcome, although I understand it could take 3-6 months to see optimum results.

(This is the actual treatment, and while it’s not too bad, if you’re squeamish … be warned. Please note, this treatment should only be performed by a trained, licensed professional – RN, PA or MD. Also, I’m not prescribing this … talk to your medical advisor to see if it is the right option for you.)

  1. I was already planning on doing this one day at Skin Deep 🙂 Just saving up for the series of 3. I’m curious to know what you think of the results a month later? Thanks Mary Beth! Oh and your husbands spa is fantastic and he’s very nice.

  2. First thought was Hmmmmm but WOW what great results. Wondering if your childhood scar disappeared? Thanks for sharing. Very cool to see the actual procedure. Your nurse was Great!!!

  3. Marnessa

AMAZING!! Thank you for sharing! As always, you look gorgeous!

  4. Jennifer

Mary Beth, thank you for sharing your facial proceedure. You had beautiful skin already. Have you shared what your regular skin care routine is? I am always curious what women with beautiful skin do to have such wonderful results.

  5. Michelle Gray

Thanks for sharing that with us Mary Beth, your 1 week picture looks fabulous. I don’t know if I have the courage to have it done though.

    Mary Beth,

Thanks for sharing your micro-needling experience. I had the misfortune of experiencing both cervical spinal and thyroid surgery a few years ago. I am so grateful that both conditions were not as bad as they could have been. However, I’ve been left with parallel scars on my throat that microderm has not completely resolved. I think that this procedure might be worth looking into. It sounds easier than the lasers, which are very painful and leave nasty bruises.

    You have amazing skin…I’m jealous.

  7. I am not sure if your warning for having a trained professional perform the procedure was there initially and somehow I missed it with my poor vision. I truly do appreciate that the warning was given and I thank you for sharing this option with your fans. You always look stunning!

  8. I was unable to watch. After 4 1/2 years on dialysis I can’t even look at a needle. I am glad you had a good experience with the procedure, and, think it would be wonderful for the not so faint of heart. Incidentally, I was blessed and had a kidney transplant 10 years ago.

  9. May I ask the approximate cost? Or did I miss that part?
    Your skin looks fabulous!!
    Thanks for sharing😘

I imagine prices vary depending on the medspa you visit, but a single procedure is approximately $750 … and they offer discounts if you do a series (3 for $1,800). If you do the microneedling without the PRP the cost is approximately $350 for a single treatment (3 for $840).

Mary Beth, thanks for sharing your experience with us fans! Its amazing what we can do these days to help keep our skin healthy, glowing & beautiful! You look fantastic! Another awesome #plankblog!

  11. Much like Traci, I was nervous for you as well! Glad to hear it’s not that painful!
(I think the part that would have made me most nervous is the sound the instrument makes!)

Thank you for sharing your great health and beauty tips last week, and for giving us an inside look at your facial! I really enjoyed this topic, and the posts were great!

I always think you look fabulous, but would also love to know if u were happy with the results? Is the one week after pic from the days 13000 episode party? All the pics I saw from there looked great!

  12. A very fascinating vlog. Thank you for sharing another option on health and beauty. Not sure it is for me but it does expose many to other options.
Perhaps though a warning should be given that this should only be done by trained professionals as there are many out there that can take advantage of vulnerable people and there is always a risk of infection.

  13. Traci Whiting

I was so nervous for you!! Did you like it and results? Will you do it again? Once again thank you for sharing so much with us! We love you for it!
