A Day in the Life on Set

I am so grateful to have had the career I’ve had – with the opportunity to work regularly in daytime, as well as guest stints in primetime and now my online role on THE BAY. And I’m forever grateful to those of you who’ve watched and stayed with me over the years.

I know that what you all see onscreen, or read about in magazines, etc., can seem so glamorous; but I have to admit … as much as I love what I do, it’s not nearly as glamorous as it all seems. In fact, what you’re seeing is the result of a lot of hard work on the behalf of so many people – writers, directors, crews and my fellow cast mates. It’s early mornings and late nights. Sometimes hours in the hair & makeup chair.  And it’s usually a whole lot of hurry up and wait.

This week in particular has been crazy as I’ve juggled two full days of work on THE BAY with a full week at Days of Our Lives and some time at Chasing Life. I feel like my brain is going burst with all the memorizing … which usually culminates with me having some hysterical laughing jag (Maybe to just relieve the pressure?).

I wanted to share a little of that with you all … so here’s a little glimpse into a day in the life on set.

Such a delight to watch this,I enjoy your blogs and you are such a joy and make my Days worthwhile.

  2. Love this! Love the energy. Thank you for this video!

  3. Thanks for the fun video. Wow….the studios really spare no expense when setting up the areas where you guys get your hair and makeup done. I noticed the decor in the background and it could use some serious updating. I’ve touched up my make up in restaurant bathrooms that are WAY cozier than the areas where you are stuck for HOURS.

You are just ruining all of the Hollywood mystique for us Mary Beth. I suppose that you will be informing us in your next blog that stars use the bathroom like regular people too!

Seeing you and Patsy together chatting like “sisters” was such a sweet joy … I can’t wait to see more of y’all together on The Bay and hopefully even Days. Thank You so much for sharing this inside look with us.

  8. Love your blog. Great video, TY! 🙂

  9. Thank you for posting this Mary Beth, it was so interesting to get an insight of your life as an actor. I loved seeing Patsy Pease and Stephen two of my favorites. It is incredible the amount of hours and hard work you put into all the shows that you are on (quite a few at the moment) and I look forward to watching the final productions.

  10. OMG this is so my favourite Blog too!! LOVE the background stuff Mary Beth, so interesting. From your ‘glamorous’ trailer to the fab guest stars in the shot behind you….this Blog was a hoot. Would love to see one of Days if you can. Thank you.

  11. Very cool. Thank you so much for show us some behind the scenes stuff. I actually enjoy stuff like this. I remember both yours and Patsy’s Remington Steele episodes. I loved that show. I have them on DVD. Can you image how many people would be binge watching DOOL if it was on DVD?

  12. Great blog and video!! I don’t know how you do it all, but keep doing it!

  13. Yep, this is my new favorite blog post. I have to tell you, from the lucky observer I got to be when working with this wonderful Bay family last weekend, watching you and Patsy in that makeup room was a slice of awesome that I feel so lucky to have had. This blog post is such a window into it all for your readers. Thank you for sharing, and beautiful job on the video to your editor, Mandy.

Omg!! So AWESOME! Thanks so much for sharing MB! Loved when you said, it’s not glamorous, it’s annoying!! LOL!! You rock!

  16. Okay, that was great! Love how you ended it with Stephen laughing because you were probably deliriously tired. Oh, and I think I use the same hair product you were holding when you were telling the stylist that you always order what she tells you to. Is it called Surf? Thanks again Mary Beth. Love reading (and seeing) your blogs!

Just loved this weeks blog. What dedication you have to your craft. Such long days and a crazy schedule. I’m admire you even more now. Love your humour – definitely gets you through the craziness. Don’t know how you do it. Must also say Loved seeing you and Patsy together. What at a fun video to watch. Thank you for doing it for us.

  18. I too enjoyed this entry 🙂 It has always fascinated me that those in your industry can memorize lines and get into character. Since you go from show to show on given days, are you gifted with the ability to memorize or do you have some tricks of the trade that help.

  19. OMG..this was the best blog Mary Beth!…I truly enjoyed your BTS video!…it’s a lot of hard work but you do it with such talent, grace & esp humor! Thanks for sharing this part of your life with us fans!…you rock MB!
